She has 25+ years of experience as a registered nurse in Australia, as well as having significant operational experience in the daily management of various businesses, including the direct management of large teams of staff.
Susannah provides clinical governance oversight at Coastal Neurosurgery and runs the patient triage program, which involves reviewing each patient’s referral as they arrive and assessing clinical urgency, and documenting initial clinical needs.
Susannah obtained her Bachelor of Nursing Degree from the University of Manchester, England. She arrived in Sydney in 2000 to commence her nursing career and worked across various Sydney hospitals, including Manly Waters Private Hospital and The Mater. While at The Mater, Susannah completed a postgraduate certificate in Palliative Care whilst working on the oncology and palliative care wards. This was a profound learning experience where she developed deep empathy for those that are very unwell.
In 2008, Susannah moved to the Central Coast where she commenced working across both Gosford Public Hospital and Gosford Private Hospital. She worked within the neurosurgical and orthopaedic surgery teams at Gosford Private Hospital, and ultimately transitioned to a full-time role at Gosford Private. While working at Gosford Private, Susannah completed a postgraduate certificate in Clinical Nursing & Teaching.
In 2010, Susannah commenced working as Dr Marc Coughlan’s Clinical Nurse Consultant, a role she held for 8+ years. She then became the Practice Manager of Coastal Neurosurgery in 2019, a role she has held since.
Susannah brings a warmth and high level of patient empathy to her role at Coastal Neurosurgery. She appreciates that many patients that come to the clinic have suffered significantly prior to arrival, and always seeks to play a role assuring them there can be a solution to every problem.
Outside of work, Susannah is a director of the charity PNG Angels and volunteers her time on the surgical missions to the country.
